Adventure to captivus

In the summer of 2006, a small group of graduate student biologists ventured deep into the Peruvian Rainforest in search of a lost treasure.  Shrouded in mystery, 77 years had passed since Excidobates (Dendrobates) captivus was last seen.

The miniature sized poison dart frog was first discovered in 1928 by Harvey Bassler, a renowned surveyor and biologist.  It wasn’t until several years afterwards that the frog was described, using old, discolored specimens found in an old museum collection.

For the first time in history, in 2006, captivus was filmed and photographed alive in its natural habitat by Palisade Productions LLC! Watch the breathtaking discovery unfold in Adventure to Captivus: The Rediscovery of a Lost Species. To order your copy, click here.
